There were two that piqued my interest because it features the two biggest brands in soccer  adidas and Nike  claiming victory in Brazil.For the big two, it seemed like the battle was less about who actually won adidas shoes the World Cup and more about who the people were talking about more on social media and other platforms. However, for the record, it was adidas-sponsored Germany but the player who scored the winning goal, Mario Gotze, is a Nike athlete was wearing the adidas ultra boost Nike Magista Boot.

So for those that follow the business of sports and the battle between the brands over the most popular sport in the world, this was a big deal. Nike was not the official sponsor of the World Cup but you wouldn t know it from the way they plastered the swoosh all over Brazil in the years leading up to the World Cup and during the tournament itself. As for adidas, they know that their lead in soccer is shrinking (or it might already adidas superstar be gone) .

After decades of dominance without a real challenger but they are doing all that they can to make sure fans of the sport and casual followers still associate soccer with the three stripes first and foremost. Even if that means leveraging a few partnerships from their Originals division to do it& In the end, the real winner of this battle won t come from who wore what during the Final and which brand got the most YouTube views, but rather who ends up getting more orders of cleats and gear after the World Cup.
